It’s no coincidence that the coaching profession came into being at this precise time in history.

Coaches catalyze exponential change in the world, like a drop of water sends ripples throughout the pond.

Just when we need a lifeline to help us navigate the chaos of uncertainty, fear and frustration, coaching abounds. Coaches as a whole lift the positivity and well-being of the world. While the call to coaching is a gift, it’s also a responsibility; we are change catalysts, and change can be challenging. It’s up to coaches to be authentic, accepting, giving and gentle as they help people step out into the world and contribute in ways they never imagined. At the same time, coaches must attend to their own well-being and build a business that enables them to thrive in their chosen potential.

Would you like to be a part of this elite group of positive and purposeful people?

The International Coach Federation (ICF), which is the largest and most influential global regulatory organization for coaches, defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”* Coaching is a profession that makes a difference in the life of every client, and even in the lives of those that client touches. It is a very fulfilling career for people who enjoy working with others and who want to make the world a better place.

If you are interested in coaching as a career, there are many things to consider before you start. As with any career, it is important to approach it as informed as possible, so that you can make the right choice.

Enter this profession with eyes wide open.

Consider:

  • The cost of coach education.
  • The cost and effort of running a business.
  • The skill and knowledge to market your services.
  • The time involved with running a business.
  • Your current skills and knowledge (to help hone in on your target market).
  • Your goals as a coach (i.e., education, credentialing, community involvement, etc.).

You must do your research to fully understand the ramifications of credentialing and certification; as a professional you will want to obtain an ICF Credential.  You will also want to join your local ICF Chapter to be around other coaches, learning from them and sharing your own greatness.
